The Chorale office has a full collection of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass    Solo books published by G. Schirmer and compiled by Joan Frey Boytim.    Feel free to stop by (16 E. Platte Ave at First Christian Church) and choose    an audition piece from our large selection. Colorado Springs Chorale Audition Information The 120-voice choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 7:15 - 9:45 PM. Auditions are by appointment only. In the 10-minute audition you should be prepared to: 1. Sing one prepared selection. It need not be in a foreign language or be memorized. Present an aria or song from an opera, oratorio or cantata (sacred or secular), or an art song or a concert arrangement of a folk song, or Broadway excerpt – none of these to exceed three minutes. Please, no selections from a hymnal. Despite their beauty, hymns utilize a limited vocal range. And, of course, no “Pop Songs,” as evaluating vocal skill is difficult there, as well. If you have any questions regarding an appropriate selection, do not hesitate to call. Please bring a copy of your music for the accompanist.   2. Vocalize simple scales to determine voice range. 3. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in learning new music (repeating intervals, reading music). An accompanist will be provided or you may supply your own. No tapes are allowed as accompaniment nor do we allow a capella performances. You will be auditioned by a panel of Chorale Section Leaders headed by our Conductor, Donald P. Jenkins. They will be looking for choral voices, not necessarily solo voices, and listening for intonation, rhythm and general musicianship.
