Audition Information

The 130-voice choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings. Auditions are by appointment only.

Auditions for the Colorado Springs Chorale are held in September and January.

In the 6-minute audition you should be prepared to:

1. Vocalize simple scales to determine voice range.

2. Sing one prepared selection. It need not be in a foreign language or be memorized. (Any "classical" aria or song from opera, oratorio, Broadway, artsong, folksong or hymn - no "pop" songs please.) Please bring a copy for the accompanist.

3. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in learning new music (repeating intervals, reading music).

An accompanist will be provided or you may supply your own. No tapes are allowed as accompaniment nor do we allow a capella performances.

You will be auditioned by a panel of Chorale Section Leaders headed by our Conductor, Donald P. Jenkins. They will be looking for choral voices, not necessarily solo voices, and listening for intonation, rhythm and general musicianship.

Notification of membership will be mailed prior to the first rehearsal.
